Biography

In the 1970s and 1980s “Manolo” was one of the European players who contributed most to European golf success, representing both Spain and Europe in a total of 18 team events: Ryder Cup, Dunhill Cup, Hennessy Cup, Double Diamond and the World Cup.

His record in the Ryder Cup is one of the best of them all. Of the five games he played in the 1985 event which Europe won, he scored four points, two in the foursomes and one in four ball pairing up with Severiano, and one in the individual game against Lanny Wadkins – one of the best American players – beating him by 3 & 1. In 1981 he also won his individual game, beating Jerry Pate by 4 & 2.

Manolo has lived in Marbella since 1989, where he successfully manages the La Quinta Golf Academy while also designing golf courses.
